The HEST Group on Secularization in Europe and the Near East is pleased to announce the II International Conference on Secularity, Religion and the Post-Secular Era: Catholic Responses to Secularization and Secularities, taking place at Ignatianum University in Krakow on May 20–21, 2027.
The conference will explore the diverse characteristics of secularization and secularities across different countries and regions, with particular attention to the specific experiences of Central Europe and their relationship with Western Europe, the Near East, Eastern Europe, and other parts of the world. It will examine the role and significance of religion in different contexts, while also reflecting on contemporary factors that may influence the processes of secularization.
Access the call for papers here.
Beyond analyzing different forms of secularization, the conference will seek to reflect on how Catholicism and within it the Ignatian or Jesuit tradition understand these realities and how they can respond to the challenges and opportunities they present. Further details will be announced in September.
