The Historical Archives of the Pontifical Gregorian University (APUG) preserve 14 volumes of letters sent by and to Athanasius Kircher; S.J., and other five manuscripts, mostly unpublished.

Recalling the tradition of Monumenta, within Monumenta Kircheri, the Historical Archives want to continue and complete this work. Each letter will be transcribed, commented and annotated with the help of GATE contributors (Gregorian Archives Texts Editing). A selection of Kircher’s published works will also be reproduced. Also, the APUG have set up the Bibliographia Kircheriana, a useful tool for Kircher scholars that today records 669 bibliographic entries.

GATE is a project developed by the APUG. Everybody can read the documents published on the GATE and browse their digitalization.

GATE also provides a collaborative environment where scholars from all over the world can give their contribution to the transcription, edition and annotation of the documents preserved by APUG. Each letter will be transcribed, commented and annotated with the help of GATE contributors: https://bit.ly/39D8E0Y
