In his speech, «Discerning the Present to Prepare … «, Father General Arturo Sosa, SJ., discussed the specific contributions that Jesuit higher education institutions can offer at this particular moment in human history. He urged the university leaders to seek a discernment that leads to shared decisions about what characterizes the universities, colleges, and centres that are members of IAJU. What can motivate a person or a family to choose to study, teach, do research or work in a Jesuit university? Fr. Sosa asked. He shed light on six critical aspects of that discernment process that we have summarised in the chart below.
