The Kircher Network is honoured to welcome the University Centre Saint-Ignatius Antwerp (UCSIA) as a member institution. After consulting the Society of Jesus Regional Superior of the European Low Countries, Fr. Marc Desmet SJ., UCSIA’s request to become a network member was accepted.
With UCSIA incorporation, there are 26 universities and centres members of the Kircher Network, three of them located in Belgium.
The UCSIA is an offspring of the former Jesuit Institution of UFSIA. It is an independent non-profit organization founded by the Jesuit Order and members of the former UFSIA to continue the Jesuit university project focused on problems and issues that express the Christian tradition. The UCSIA has been proven crucial to the region and has demonstrated its commitment to the Jesuit values and mission.
The centre is determined to contribute to a more just and better society through reflection, supported by education, community service, and academic research. For years, it has been the motor of the European Scribani Network of Jesuit Higher institutions and social centres and it has been serving society through various public activities following the priorities set out by the Jesuit General Congregations and the four Apostolic Preferences, by tapping into the resources and honouring the legacy of the Jesuits in Antwerp to understand our postmodern society.
