The Ignatianum University has been working since 2019 on a project called Social Dictionary. This project aims to offer a comprehensive, multi-volume exploration of current knowledge in humanities and social sciences, focusing on humanity’s development across varied civilizations, cultures, religions, and societal norms.
Rather than following traditional academic disciplines, this work is organized by research areas significant to understanding human and social dynamics in the 21st century. These areas include topics central to politics, public affairs, international relations, and perceptions of humanity and society. The project’s interdisciplinary approach allows for a richer, more complete analysis, with scholars using “interpretive keys” to delve into crucial topics associated with each research area.
Each volume features extended essays that explore the essence, history, and key concepts of specific categories, enriched by Catholic social teachings. This framework aims to provide readers with both theoretical insights and practical applications, offering a unique perspective informed by Christian thought and a commitment to showcasing the intellectual contributions of Polish academia. All volumes are open and available for download on their website.
