Deadline for Submissions: January 2025 *Date to be determined*

The IAJU International Education Conference invites proposals for presentations, that align with the conference’s mission to advance internationalization across all dimensions of Jesuit higher education. We welcome contributions that explore innovative strategies, best practices, and collaborative projects to promote international education and global engagement in research, teaching, and capacity building.

Presentations should cover one or more of the following thematic priorities:

  1. Internationalization that promotes service to others, social justice, and environmental sustainability
How can universities promote social and environmental justice through internationalization?

Examples may include programs for service-learning, volunteering initiatives, and projects that foster global solidarity.

  1. Leveraging technology for internationalization
In what ways can technology foster inclusion and capacity building in global education?

Topics may include virtual exchanges, e-learning platforms, mentoring programs, Virtual Dual Immersion (VDI), Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), capacity building programs for peers, and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence to expand access in international education.

  1. Education for global citizenship
What are best practices for educating students to become global citizens? How can international educators raise awareness and address global challenges in fostering intercultural competency?

Presentations may include curricular and co-curricular programs designed for promoting cultural diversity and civic responsibility.

  1. From bilateral to multilateral collaborations: working in networks
How can Jesuit institutions move beyond bilateral agreements to expand collaboration and enhance networking? How can IAJU leverage our partnerships for greater visibility in international education and global engagement?

Best practices could address case studies or models of successful network-based collaborations. Specific proposals for multilateral collaborations in capacity building and collaborative research are welcome.

We invite two types of presentations:

  • Best practices: Presentations that showcase successful internationalization strategies or initiatives. These sessions aim to share knowledge, inspire innovation, and provide practical takeaways for other institutions.
  • Collaboration proposals: Presentations that focus on developing new partnerships. These sessions provide a platform for institutions to propose projects, seek collaborators, and build networks for future initiatives.

Presentations should be no longer than 20 minutes, including Q&A.
